Q: 1. What is 3D-Secure?
A: 3D-Secure is a technical standard of secure protocol developed by Visa and MasterCard in order to make online purchasing secure.

Q: 2. Is 3D- Secure activation secure?
A: Yes. The data you provide while performing registration are encrypted and stored on secure server.

Q: 3. What are the benefits of using 3D-Secure ?
A: 3D- Secure offers secure online purchasing. User identification requires not only the card number, expiry date, CVV2/CVC2 number but also a password, both created by the user or obtained via sms text message. All that makes online purchasing really secure.

Q: 4. What do I need to start using 3D-Secure purchasing.
A: All you need to have is a payment card issued by SGB-Bank S.A and the 3D-Secure activation. Before activation, Maestro, Visa Electron, Visa Business Electron card owners should contact their SGB-Bank S.A branch in order to obtain temporary activation password (which will be later replaced by the one created by the user). Activation must be performed when trying to make your first online purchase.

Q: 5. What is a Personal Assurance Message (PAM)?
A: The Personal Assurance Message is a message that you create during activation. Each time you perform an online purchase you will be prompted to enter your SecureCode or VbV. At this time, you'll see your PAM and other purchase details. PAM is your assurance that you are communicating with SGB-Bank S.A.

Q: 6. Does 3D-Secure apply to all online purchases?
A:It depends on the retailer and its ability to provide 3D- Secure functionality. All non 3D-Secure transactions are performed in a "traditional" way.

Q: 7. Can I use 3D-Secure purchasing from any computer?
A: Yes. 3D-Secure works with most browsers.

Q: 8. What cards can I use for 3D–Secure payments?
A: All SGB-Bank S.A debit and credit cards can be used for 3D-Secure purchasing.

Q: 9. What data 3D-Secure activation requires?
A: Activation requires such data as: maiden name, expiry date, temporary password (Maestro, Visa Electron, Visa Business Electron), date of birth (additionally for all other cards).

Q: 10. How 3D-Secure verification differs from ,,traditional” online payments?
A: Apart from name and address check, you will have to provide either your activation password or the one obtained via sms text message.

Q: 11. Why do I have to provide additional data when doing 3D-Secure payments.
A: Providing data such as: maiden name, expiry date makes your verification more secure and prevents you from any fraudulent activity.

Q:12. How much will I pay for the service?
A: 3 D-Secure is free of charge.

Q:13. How do I know if an online retailer is participating in 3D-Secure program?
A:You can identify 3D-Secure retailer by looking out for Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode logo at the merchant’s website. If not, your payment can still be 3D-Secure as long as you are required to provide a password (created by you or sent via sms text message).
